Funding for Counseling
Insurance
Code-4 Counseling does not accept insurance primarily to protect the privacy of its clients. Many clients of Code-4 are first responders and public safety professionals whose careers could be adversely impacted by the misuse of diagnosis’. Insurance companies typically require a diagnosis for billing purposes, and such records can potentially affect clients' employment, security clearances, and even their professional reputation. Moreover, insurance companies do not cover ‘Unspecified Counseling’ forcing most providers to use a diagnosis code such as ‘Adjustment Disorder’ or ‘Mental Disorder’. By not dealing with insurance, Code-4 ensures a higher level of confidentiality and avoids the implications that can arise from misused mental health diagnoses.
Agency Funding and Limits
Agency funding limits at Code-4 Counseling refer to the maximum number of sessions that a client's agency will cover in a given timeframe, typically per year, per issue. For potential clients, this means that their access to funded counseling sessions might be restricted based on these predetermined limits set by their agency. Once these limits are reached, clients need to identify an alternative funding source if they require further counseling sessions. This setup requires clients to be aware of their coverage details and to plan accordingly for continued support if needed beyond the agency-funded sessions.
PATH4EMS
PATH4EMS is a dedicated resource that supports Colorado's EMS professionals by offering free and confidential counseling services. As a potential new client, you would be eligible for these benefits if you or an immediate family member holds a current Colorado Emergency Medical Services certification. This can be verified through a designated online portal.
PATH4EMS covers 15 counseling sessions, providing substantial support without any financial burden to you. After obtaining a participant number, your counseling provider, such as Code-4 Counseling, can directly bill PATH4EMS for these sessions, ensuring a smooth process that focuses on your needs without administrative hassles. This participant number is obtained for you when a client is requesting an appointment at Code-4 or is moving from another funding source to PATH4EMS.
This program is an excellent resource if you want to address personal, family, or work-related issues in a confidential and supportive environment tailored to the unique challenges EMS professionals face.
Colorado Firefighter Benefit Trust
The Colorado Firefighter Benefit Trust is specifically designed to provide financial support for behavioral and mental health treatments to Colorado firefighters. Here’s a detailed look at the eligibility and limits associated with this program:
Eligibility
Eligible Participants: All active employees who are employed by a Colorado public [fire] entity, whether they are members of the Trust or not.
Family Coverage: While individual family member expenses are not eligible for reimbursement, expenses for couples, marriage, and family counseling sessions are covered as long as the employee participates (in the counseling session).
Direct Billing and Claims Submission Process
Direct Billing: Firefighters must first set up a claim with the Trust to receive a BHT claim number, which allows clinics to bill the Trust directly. No invoice is required to establish direct billing.
Claims for Reimbursement: Firefighters submit claims via an online form on the Trust’s website, including necessary details and documentation. The process is designed to ensure privacy and efficiency, with payments typically issued within 10 days of receipt of a complete claim form.
Revital Colorado
For clients wanting to use Revital Colorado for funding counseling sessions at Code-4 Counseling, the process involves a specific approval and billing procedure to ensure that the sessions are covered financially.
Process for Using Revital Colorado Funding:
Prior Approval Required:
Initially, you must obtain prior approval from Jordan Long at Revital Colorado. This approval will specify the total number of sessions that Revital will cover. This step is crucial as it establishes the scope of coverage and ensures that both the client and the counseling service know the funding limits.
Submission of Approval:
Once you receive the approval (an email from Jordan), it must be emailed to Code-4 Counseling at support@code4counseling.com. This document serves as the official authorization for the sessions and is necessary for Code-4 Counseling to proceed with scheduling and billing.
Requesting Additional Sessions:
If additional counseling sessions are needed beyond those initially approved, you must go through Revital Colorado again. A new approval must be obtained and submitted following the same process. This ensures continuous coverage without any interruption in the counseling services. You must find an alternate funding source if you do not seek or obtain approval.
Billing and Payment:
Code-4 Counseling directly bills Revital Colorado based on the approved number of sessions. Clients need to ensure that all approvals are kept up to date to avoid any billing issues or potential lapses in service coverage.
It’s A Calling Foundation
Using It's a Calling Foundation (IACF) as a funding source means that as a potential new client, you can access specialized mental health services designed specifically for public safety professionals and their families, at a reduced financial burden. Here’s what this entails:
You will be responsible for a $40 co-pay per session, while the remaining costs are covered by the foundation. This setup makes counseling more accessible and lessens the financial strain often associated with mental health services.
Clients using IACF will be enrolled in auto-pay. Enrollment in autopay simplifies the payment process, ensuring that sessions are paid for timely and without the need for constant manual transactions.
Your participation in counseling through IACF also supports the training of student counselors who are supervised by licensed professionals, enhancing the field of public safety mental health.
Sessions will be charged at the end of the month.
