Peer Support Training
Peer Support is an evidence-based approach to mental wellness. Peer Support Specialists are specially trained individuals who were successful in their own recovery and now support others in similar situations. CODE-4 has tailored this training for first responders and frontline medical workers making it relevant to these high-stress professionals. We include skills needed to provide one on one support, program maintenance, and community relationship building.
Peer Support Specialists can engage in multiple areas
Advocacy for wellness
Discovering and maintaining resources for their peers
Individual or group wellness training
Peer Support Basic
This course is 40 hours of in-person learning. It is designed for individuals who will be Peer Support Specialists. Topics include ethics, confidentiality, engagement, motivational interviewing, taking action, and self-care. After completing the training, the students will be ready to provide support to their peers and know when and how to make referrals to higher care. This training meets the core competencies detailed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Peer Support Advanced
This course is specifically designed for your agency or organization's needs. We recommend that this course is developed after an organization wellness assessment. Students in this course should have already taken the Peer Support Basic or have experience as a peer support specialist.
CODE-4 typically contracts with a host agency for the basic or advanced course. We do not have an option for individual students at this time. We are based out of the Denver Metro area and primarily serve agencies in Colorado.
